It’s a thrilling time for the Disney Treasure as more and more pieces of the ship arrive. In my later years, I served proudly as Captain of a luxurious ocean liner, every voyage its own adventure. Jungle Cruise fans will want to check out Skipper Society, a lounge inspired by the popular Disney World and Disneyland attraction, which also inspired a live-action film in 2021. Disney Treasure, which can accommodate 4,000 passengers, will sail seven-night Eastern and Western Caribbean itineraries from Florida’s Port Canaveral.

The Disney Treasure, similar to the Disney Wish, has 1,250 staterooms, along with several restaurants, immersive spaces and experiences themed to various Disney characters and properties, including Walt Disney Pictures, Marvel Cinematic Universe, Star Wars, and Pixar. The ship will feature a Coco-themed restaurant, a Tomorrow Tower Suite inspired by EPCOT and a Jungle Cruise-inspired lounge. I have a bunch of other layout quibbles with the Disney Wish, many of which I’m assuming won’t be resolved. The Disney Treasure was well into development by the time the Disney Wish set sail, and it was probably too late to change the core layout by that point. So I’m guessing there won’t be more elevators, added hallways, or significant shuffling of features.
The Tale of Moana will begin in modern day on the fictional island of Motunui, in a set design filled with hints of brilliant cultures of the Pacific Islands that will appear throughout the show. The Tale of Moana will feature puppetry that soars to mythical heights, including a fiery Te Kā on a scale Disney Cruise Line has never before produced. When Moana meets Te Kā and restores the heart of Te Fiti, the giant Te Kā puppet will shed its fiery shell and become the gentle island goddess, Te Fiti herself. As you can see from the concept art, the columns and the centerpiece atrium light fixture are designed to evoke Aladdin, while also retaining a luxurious and modern appearance. That’s a really tough needle to thread, as usually these are two very different types of architecture–I’d normally expect Agrabah to feature a lot of ornate detail, patterns, and texture. Still, I’m hopeful and optimistic that Imagineering can stick the landing on this, as the concept is really intriguing and much better, in my view, than the atrium of the Wish.
This is different from the itineraries on Disney Wish, which are three- and four-night sailings to the Bahamas. The longer itineraries will give guests more time to enjoy the ship, so Disney has to create more experiences to keep them entertained. Disney has announced that the maiden voyage for Disney Treasure will be Dec. 21, 2024, on a seven-night sailing from Port Canaveral (near Orlando), Florida. It will visit Tortola, St. Thomas and Castaway Cay (Disney's private island), with three sea days to rest up from your adventures ashore. Disney Treasure will have 1,256 cabins and suites ranging from interior cabins to a two-story funnel suite. All of them will continue the theme of adventure told through Disney stories and places.
